I say it all the time, but our VO journey is a marathon, not a sprint, with many starts and stops along the way. Sort of like a VO cha-cha!
For a while, you might feel some major momentum with your VO training, but then, something pulls you away. Life happens, work happens, being human happens. At TVAS, we totally understand. We’ll never make you feel bad if you’ve had to hit the pause button on your VO training because another part of life needed your attention. We get it—we’ve been there. (Just know we’ll be happy to see you when the time is right, and we’ll never grill you on where you’ve been! Ever!)
This “start-stop” cha-cha can happen even to seasoned VO pros! You’re booking a ton of work one month, and the next month, things slow down. You’re feeling strong and confident one week, and the next week, you’re feeling run-down and not-so-confident. Voiceover—just like life—has its ups and downs. That’s normal!
(Is this photo creepy? Probably. But hey, cha-cha real smooth.)
Whether you’re just starting out or restarting, the important thing is: you’re moving forward. Just like in a cha-cha! You’re practicing, and practice makes progress—not perfect!
Because after all, we’re not after perfect; we’re after PROGRESS.
Maybe you recently cut your demo and you’re feeling anxious about all the things you need to be doing. Maybe you’re struggling with what you should be doing NEXT? Maybe you’re auditioning and feeling uncertain, or maybe you’re a full-time voice actor and just not feeling at the top of your game these days. Whatever the case, know that you’re always welcome to come back to the TVAS ‘Mothership’ anytime so we can help you with your business and marketing efforts–and reassure you that YES – you’re doing it right!
We’re all in this together. Just being around other voice actors who speak your language can be SO reassuring.
So drop in to an ongoing workshop. Reach out! We’re rooting for you. And remember: no two journeys look the same.
Now go cha-cha real smooth!
i remember you sharing the “cha-cha” process with us many times. When I start to feel overwhelmed and it seems life gets in the way—-I remember your inspirational words of wisdom! Thank you for being the “momma” we all need!
Boy have I done the Cha-Cha AND hit the pause button a couple of times. I am NOT going to get in the way of my VO dream! I’ve GOT this! It’s just taking me longer than others.
